acid thoughts burning in mind
spilt thoughts
overturned, overturned
i pay for this
bed
i pay for this
dream
amour-propre
the blue nile
flooding
banks
fertile soil
of nargis fields
flowering intentions
no-self, esteem
plunge, undercurrent
head out, a new country
one thought kills
your dragon
sleep wake
try sleep
wake try
Inspiration and notes:
- If you are carving your own dragon, you will never see the real one. That’s why true zazen requires giving up your personal style of practice.
- According to Rousseau … amour-propre is a form of self-love that arose only with the appearance of society and individuals’ consequent ability to compare themselves with one another. Rousseau thought that amour-propre was subject to corruption, thereby causing vice and misery. But in addition, by guiding us to seek others’ approval and recognition, amour-propre can contribute positively to virtue.
