Post Script

A comma separates without bringing anything to an end. The corpus callosum may be understood in much the same way: not merely as tissue joining two halves, but as a portal between consciousnesses that remain distinct while learning to act together.

Every interface performs some version of this work. Language, gesture, perception, and even the screen between one mind and another do not erase separation or provide direct access to what lies beyond them. They translate. They allow meaning to pass through a bounded form.

The poem moves from conscientiousness to consciousness and finally to compassion because compassion may be what becomes possible at such a portal: difference neither denied nor abandoned, but joined through attention.
